About Libling

Libling is a catalogue for the things that actually stand on your shelves: books, vinyl records and CDs, movies, board games — and the binders in between. You photograph one shelf at a time; Libling reads the spines, records each item at its physical place (library → room → bookcase → shelf → position), and looks it up in open catalogues like Open Library, Libris, Google Books, MusicBrainz, Discogs, TMDB and BoardGameGeek.

Its founding rule is never guess. If a spine cannot be read, Libling stores exactly the letters it saw and leaves the title honestly blank rather than inventing one. Automatic catalogue links happen only on an exact title-and-author match; anything merely close waits for your confirmation. And a re-scan never deletes anything — a book the new photo missed is flagged, not removed.

Libling was built in 2026 for real home libraries — the kind with a Bible next to a paperback next to someone's old binder of receipts.
